In the anime series
Martian Successor Nadesico, Ruri Hoshino (星野ルリ)
basically keeps the computer systems of the Nadesico running. The 12 year
old Ruri was produced as part of an attempt to create a "perfect human"
and is thought to be the only surviving result (though it is later
revealed that there is another, under the guidance of
Akito Tenkawa). Aside from her trademark "Baka
Baka!" (Idiots!) remarks about the crew, she also does the pre-episode
narration. She is also the princess of a country called Peaceland, though
she has no intention of returning there.
In Prince of Darkness, Ruri becomes the captain of the
Nadesico.
