Sangokujin - Japanese for 'third country nationals

The term Sangokujin (三国人; Japanese for 'third country nationals') originally referred to the north Koreans (forcefully brought to Japan for the purpose of providing workforce during the war.) living in Japan after the WW2, during the US military occupation. Since these people were neither Japanese (Being occupied) nor American (occupying); they were considered a "3rd person/party" minority during this time.

"Sangokujin" was never meant to be a discriminatory term, however due to recent incidents and crimes involving the concerned minority, the term started to be considered a negative/discriminatory. Pretty much after the Former Prime Minister; Mori used it in his speech.
