Does Japanese people borrow money from each other?
I'm curious.

Hi, well I think you mean do friends borrow money from each other. If this is the case I think you will find it is rare. I met one Japanese woman who thought the idea of lending money to a friend was unbelievable. When I told her it was common practice in my country I think she believed me but didin't seem to understand the concept.

Yes, I meant that exactly.

Yes, I have the same feeling in general. I wonder why is that. Perhaps it's that uchi/soto thing. Borrowing money to outsider is seen as unethical in strange way.
But even inside family it people are not so crazy about it.
I think its common for wife and husband to have separate bank accounts.

Actually i have heard that too but that once married the wife takes control of her husbands bank book....scary
