Hello,
I will be traveling next week from Narita to Nagoya and speak no Japanese. I am hearing that most people do not speak English and that I will have a hard time finding out which train I should be on and where to go to find the correct train.
I was wondering if there is a guide service available somewhere that would help in this airport to correct train process?

thanks for any help,
Linda

Linda, I'm not sure but am asking a few friends to see if we can find out about specific assistance.

You are correct in that English may not get you too far. I do know that a good map of the transit system will be a valuable asset, not only for your own use but as a tool to ask for directions. Don't leave home without a pen, paper and map.

Hello Linda,
It's nice to see you here with us. I'd like to ask you are you going to use the bullet train "Shinkansen" to go to Nagoya?
First find out which station it leaves. Then, as Doug told us, its true that in Japan its good to know few Japanese words. I recommend you to learn few Japanese words such as these:
Untenshu-san, Ginza made onegai shimasu - Driver, please take me to Ginza
Ashita Hikari de Nagoya e ikimasu - Tomorrow I go to Nagoya with Hikari (shinkansen bullet train.
Nihon wa hajimete desu - This is my first time in Japan
Chotto matte ne - Just a moment. (In formal occasion, replace ne with kudasai)
Denwa wa arimasuka? - Do you have a telephone? (did someone call me?)
Eigo wakarimasuka - Do you speak English?

Know you have taken your trip all ready, but leaving a link here for others, as well as putting it in your list Doug, as I didn't see one the first time going through them. If one is there, then forgive me.

Japanese Traffic Guide (http://www.jorudan.co.jp/english/norikae/)

Will assist just about anyone coming over here, in getting basic routes by train and bus.
