Thanks for the welcome message. I found this via a Google alert. I am an American living on Okinawa. My American wife works with dependant children with special needs on Kadena AB. We live in the Awase Port area. The drive from here to Kadena is across the narrowest part of the island and takes 20-30 minutes. I was on Okinawa in 1972 while in the Marine Corps. I am an avid (rookie) digital still and video photographer. I recently hitched a ride on a Cessna 172 and got some aerial shots. I also collect WWII documentation and metal detect for whatever I can find.

The American actor, John Wayne, was also called "the Duke". I am sure a little research would verify that. There was also the Hawaiin surfer that was referred to as "The Duke" so that could be confusing.

Photgraphs of the Yamato battleship can be found. There were not many photographs taken because it was a Top Secret project.

I could not find anything on "nihonjonron".

Good luck,
Steven
