Neighbor No. 13 is a very difficult movie to classify. Is it horror? Is it fantasy? Is it a comic book adaptation? I think you could answer yes to all those questions. It is an adaptation of a Japanese manga of the same name. It is a revenge flick with a difference. The story starts off with a young man, Murasaki, struggling to deal with two personalities. Through flashbacks we quickly learn that his mental torment is the result of being bullied as a child by his classmates led by a particularly cruel boy. The story picks up years later when Murasaki starts a new job and discovers his old nemesis is also working there and that he doesn’t appear to have changed much. Superbly acted by Kabuki Star - Shido Nakamura and rising star - Shun Ogori (Azumi). The story ensues, with gruesome murder aplenty and an ending you wouldn’t expect. Not for the faint-hearted.
