Kanto Region of Japan

Kanto region (Kanto-chiho) is a geographical area located at Honshu, the largest island in Japan. Its boundary is nearly the same as that of Kanto plain.

The name is generally considered came from eastern region (東) to Hakone's checkpoint (関所).

The region consists of following prefectures: Gunma prefecture, Tochigi prefecture, Ibaraki prefecture, Saitama prefecture, Tokyo prefecture, Chiba prefecture, & Kanagawa prefecture.

A Japanese army Kanto-gun at World War II is not related to this region.
