Port Island - artificial island in Kobe, Japan

Port Island (ポートアイランド Potoairando) is an artificial island in Kobe, Japan. It was completed between 1966 and 1981, and officially opened with an exposition called "Port Pier '81." It now houses a heliport, numerous hotels, a large convention center, and several parks.

When Kobe Airport is completed, it will be adjacent to Port Island.
