The Konoe clan (Konoe-ke) was a branch of the Fujiwara family. As one of
the five regnet houses, the Konoe clan monopolized the posts of Sessho and
Kampaku along with Takatsukasa, Kujo, Nijo and Ichijo clans.
With the support from Taira no Kiyomori, Fujiwara no Motozane founded the
clan. Prime Minister Konoe Fumimaro came from this clan.
