Okachimachi Station
(御徒町駅; -eki)
is located in
Tokyo's
Shibuya ward.
Layout
The station is on a raised viaduct running in a roughly
north-south direction through a heavily built-up area. There are two
platforms on the western side of the viaduct enabling cross-platform
interchange between the Keihin-Tohoku and Yamanote Lines in the respective
direction of travel. East of the platforms are tracks belonging to the
TΕhoku Main Line formerly running to
Tokyo Station but which are now used to stable trains terminating at
Ueno Station.
Okachimachi has two exits, North Exit (北口)
and South Exit (南口).

Surroundings
Okachimachi Station is in the centre of a busy commercial
district stretching southwards from Ueno Station. Particularly well-known is
Ameyoko (アメ横),
a busy shopping street dominated by small market-style stalls selling a wide
variety of wares. Ameyoku runs parallel to the railway line and includes a
large market under the railway tracks.
