The Tokyo Metropolitan Bureau of Transportation
(東京都交通局 Tokyo-to Kotsu-kyoku), more commonly known as 都営 Toei,
is Tokyo's
public transportation authority. It is one of the two
metro operators in Tokyo (the other is the
Teito Rapid Transit Authority).

Japan Public Commuter Train Thoughts |
I
would like to explain how the train system is truly un-Japanese... In the
80's I remember looking at pictures of people in white gloves pushing
commuters back into the car trying to push more and more people into the
car. I sort of thought that it was something that was more fiction than
reality...but the trains are a place where the rules of Japanese society
are suspended and the real demons come out. (read

Akihabara - Electric Town |

Akihabara is also known as Akihabara Electric Town (Akihabara Denki Gai).
It is located less than five minutes by rail from Tokyo station, Tokyo,
Japan. It is sometimes shortened to Akiba by locals. While there is an
official locality named Akihabara nearby, part of Taito-ku, the area known
as Akihabara (including the JR railway station of the same name) to most
people is actually Soto-Kanda, a part of Chiyoda-ku. (read
